When Wednesday rolls close to your motivation to maintain getting things accomplished may have lessened considerably.
I understand that is sometimes the case for me at least.
So in this particular week’s post I’d like to share the top 10 tips plus habits that help me to refuel our motivation to get past that midweek hump and keep working in a focused way until Friday afternoon is here and the weekend is just around the corner.
I really hope you’ll find something here to help to make your own Wednesday even better.
1 . Start small (or tiny).
In case a project, a task or maybe the next step at work or in school today appears tough or daunting and you wind up procrastinating then break it down into small ways. Steps that get just 5-10 moments each.
Then get started on that first step to begin moving forward once again.
I discover that doing this not only will get me out of procrastination but also refuels my motivation and the actual next few tips forward easier and much more fun again.
If breaking what you are about to do into small steps still countries you in handlungsaufschub then break your own task down into small steps. Steps that only take 1-2 minutes to complete.
And then get started with the first tiny action.
It is important is to just get heading and to start moving forward no matter how you actually accomplish that. So be sure to make use of small or small steps frequently to get going and to get to done.
2 . Play music that boosts your energy or changes your mood.
One of the easiest ways to increase my motivation right this moment as I write this really is to take a 10 minute break and to enjoy a bunch of songs which are upbeat or inspire me in some way.
Such a split often helps to change my perspective to a more open and inspired one and it becomes easier to move forwards after the crack is over.
3. Contend in a friendly method (with others or even yourself).
One way to create things more fun set up task itself can be boring is to create completing it in to a friendly competition.
If you want you can include a small price for added motivation like the champion getting a free your favorite ice cream or a can associated with soda from the other person.
Or you can compete with your self. See if you can do a task faster than the final time – while still delivering an excellent result – to obtain some motivation moving.
4. Remind yourself of what you work towards.
When the motivation is low in your Wednesday morning and you simply want to go back to bed then it’s simple to lose sight associated with why you’re doing something in the first place.
So take a couple of minutes and jot down your top a few reasons for why you performing this work at college, at your job or even with your business.
Put that physical note where you cannot avoid viewing it every day or even turn it into a tip on your smartphone that pops up once a day to get easy access to that motivational boost.
5. Let the motivation flow from all other people.
This is perhaps the easiest and easiest one to use if you feel unmotivated.
Simply let the inspiration, enthusiasm and power of other people into your mind, day and life.
I often do that nowadays by reading through a chapter approximately in a book within the Kindle app on my smartphone (currently I’m reading “ The Psychology associated with Money” by Morgan Housel, it’s an excellent one).
Or I watch a video by a number of my favorite motivational Youtubers like Ali Abdaal, Mike Boyd or even Will Tennyson.
six. Declutter and create the workspace that adds a bit more motivation.
When my work space is definitely messy then I find that I have trouble focusing and so it’s simple to get stuck in procrastination in a lack of motivation.
If that is the situation for you too then take 5 minutes at the moment to declutter your work space. Throw out the things which should not be there like old notes and coffee mugs. Place the things that are important back in their homes.
Then, once the work space is decluttered and in order once again change your working environment a bit by adding several motivation:
- Put up a note with an inspiring quote or a photo of the loved one on your table.
- Put in a bit of greenery just like a small plant if at all possible (this one’s not for everyone but helps me to connect a little bit with nature and to relax when I work).
- Give a new and uplifting desktop wallpaper for the computer and one for your smartphone too.
7. Tap into appreciation for what you do possess.
When you’re tired and in a motivational slump then in my opinion it is easy to start seeing pretty much everything in your life through a detrimental lens. And so your motivation may remain stuck or even kitchen sink lower.
One of the quickest ways to get yourself out of that will headspace is to tap into gratitude.
So I ask myself this:
What are 3 matters I sometimes take for granted but can be pleased for in my lifetime?
Our answers when I inquired myself this the final time were that I don’t have to go starving, that I have a roof over my head which I have an emergency fund if I need it.
6. Mix things up.
The rut can get you mentally stuck in negative thoughts. So mix some misconception today.
Sit in a brand new spot when you do your job. Listen to other songs or podcasts than you usually do. And go for the lunch option that feels the most new or different to you.
This basic variation can in my opinion help to renew that motivation.
9. Take a 2 minute deep breathing break.
When the mind is inundated and a bit exhausted (especially in the afternoons) then I quite often take a 2 minute deep breathing break to get rid of the mental clutter and inner tensions and to find a clear concentrate again.
Here’s how I get it done:
I actually sit down on my comfy sofa plus close my eyes. After which I just take slower belly breaths plus focus 100% over the air going in and out for 2 minutes. And that’s it.
10. Just get started (and let the motivation catch up with you).
A significant reminder for me is the fact that I don’t actually have to await for motivation to get going.
I can just get to work with what I need to do anyway. And some days this is what simply works best to keep that will consistency in my progress up.
Yet here’s the amusing thing: after I been employed by for a while, after I have taken a few steps forward after that things feel easier, lighter and more enjoyable. And so the motivation to keep going, to get the task or task to done catches up with me.
