My Purpose was Hidden Behind My Greatest Obstacles

I seriously believe that before I came into this world, Lord asked me ‘ what would you like to do in this life? ’ And I responded, ‘I want to teach about self-reliance. ’ And God said, ‘ then we much better get your butt directly into an orphanage. ’

– Dr . Wayne Dyer

You know the movie scene where the deliver captain sees weather on the horizon, and when the storm hits, he’ s up in the crow’ s nest cursing the difficulty of God?

That was me inside my early twenties.

Angry, depressed, overweight, addicted – dropped at sea. However, things began to change. I turned the attention elsewhere and since have completely adjusted the sails.

Atmosphere on the Horizon

I grew up in a town in Iowa. I’ m the youngest of four brothers, and till a certain age, I experienced a relatively boring childhood.

Sadly, you can’ t see trauma coming like clouds forming on the horizon, and boy was I in for one heck of a storm.

Weathering Conditions

When I has been around 10 years older, I was playing golf ball in our driveway, the usual afternoon action. However , one evening, my game was interrupted by something unexpected.

This night, a law enforcement car and a shiny black sedan drawn up beside our home, and out of it emerged an uniformed officer and our Clergyman – an threatening fleet.

The next thing I remember is working into the house after hearing the eager screams of the mother, who was sprawled on the floor in a suit of agony.

My brother, Erik, who was just 17 years of age at the time, had lost his life inside a motor vehicle accident along with his best friend John.   It was a devastating blow, and such as waves pounding the hull, the many years to follow were riddled with uncertainty, anxiety, anxiety, fighting, divorce, substance abuse, and at times, despair.

“ When the Student can be Ready, the Instructor Will Appear”

Fast forwards 10 years. I’ m living life by myself and carrying all of that unaddressed trauma with me. I’ m obese, depressed, borrowing money from family members, and living a lifestyle void of purpose.

Then, I came across a book. It wasn’ t the first time this book had slipped in to my consciousness, though. When I was 18 a dear friend offered it in my experience, but as the old saying goes, “ when the student is definitely ready, the instructor will appear. ”

The book has been called Change Your Thoughts, Make Life: Living the particular Wisdom of the Tao by Dr . Wayne W. Dyer. It’ s  a translation from the Tao Te Ching, a book written within China by a guy named Lao Tzu. The Tao had been written 500 years before the bible while offering 81 verses that are a guide to living the way in which.

I began to study and practice the lessons, plus soon after, I noticed points start to change. As if the universe halted colluding against me, and started orchestrating for me, the  correct people showed up, the particular opportunities showed up, the energy to take on new tasks showed up. Most importantly, nevertheless , I found a skills for allowing inner peace to prevail no matter the situation.

Finding the Calm After the Storm

As I sit here writing this particular, now 31 years old, I am filled with a lot gratitude for everything that has shown up in my existence. I am a Registered Nurse, I’ m married to an amazing female, and we have incredible pets and an unusual house where our dreams become express.

But it’ s not just the “ good” that will I’ m thankful for. I’ m also grateful for that hardship that’ h led me for this place.

The struggles, and the information that has led me to overcome all of them, are all part of this divine purpose which i seek to fulfill everyday. Truly, my purpose was hidden at the rear of my obstacles most along.

Everything weather, all that time in the crow’ t nest, now comes from my mind included in my education.

Because those experiences led to the dissolution of my so-called “ self”, and exactly what remained evaporated within the warmth of something greater.

Once again as the ship chief, I’ m now gazing into sunlit skies. Not even that, I am the sky, and the ground, I realize myself in anything that enters my encounter.

In quick acknowledgment of the light bouncing off of everything that I see, I see just about all as a reflection from the divine that moves through me.

Conclusion

When I seem back now, generally there never really was a surprise. All of that anger, worry, and emotional battle, were just the signs of a narrative I designed to try to make sense of the pain.

Yet we’ re all the authors of our personal unique story, nobody else can create it for you. You, and only you, are in control of how you understand everything that has directed you to where you are right this moment.

My objective was hidden behind my obstacles, and that purpose is to talk about my story and help those who end up stuck in the crow’ s nest.

You need not really leave your space. Remain sitting at your table and listen. You need not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world can freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no selection, it will roll in ecstasy at your ft.
